This page sets out the source standard The Legation Times applies before publishing anything.

Source groups we use

• Government — official government portals and dedicated pages.
• Regulator — immigration, foreign affairs, tax or financial authorities, or the body administering a programme.
• Intergovernmental — intergovernmental organisations, used for data and context.
• Licensed press — licensed press organisations, used only for current developments and always with attribution.

Not used as a primary source

• Material from migration advisory firms or anyone selling a service.
• Advertising or marketing releases.
• Round-ups compiled by other websites.
• Unverified social media posts.
• Machine-generated content that cannot be traced to an original document.

Minimum conditions for publication

Content is published only when we hold: a direct link to the original document (not a general home page), the time the source published it, the time we accessed it, and the basis on which we are entitled to use it. Missing any of these, the item is not published.

Imagery and official identity

We do not use the logo, coat of arms or imagery of a state body in a way that suggests The Legation Times is an official channel of that body. Illustrative images are used under a licence that permits it and never stand in for the original document.

When a source is withdrawn or changed

If the original document is removed or amended, the related content goes into review immediately and its source status is noted at the top of the article.
