The Legation Times is hiring a full-time editor, working from our Ho Chi Minh City office. This position holds the quality line: it decides whether a fact has earned its place on the site.

The work

Read what the competent authorities publish — statutes, decrees, circulars, draft heads of bill, official fee schedules — and build articles in which every fact can be checked.

Review other people’s drafts against the same measure: a fact that cannot be traced to its source does not go on the site.

Reconcile the Vietnamese and English versions so the two never diverge on a fact. The site publishes in both languages every day, and a figure that differs between them is an error twice over.

What you need

The ability to read regulatory texts in Vietnamese and English, and to tell what a text actually provides from what a report infers from it.

Precise Vietnamese, with no word larger than the fact it carries.

What you do not need

Newsroom experience. The measure here is how tightly an argument holds, not years served.

What working here means

The Legation Times is a specialist information and analysis site on investment migration, cross-border assets and capital mobility, managed by Cypheon. It is not a press organisation, it does not sell migration services, it does not act as an agent for any programme and it does not take commission.

Every article rests on at least two independent sources, at least one of them official or institutional, and links directly to the underlying document. Where the underlying document does not say what a widely repeated report says it says, the document is what we keep.
