The Legation Times

Privacy

This privacy policy describes the data The Legation Times collects when you subscribe to updates, how we store it and how you can ask for it to be deleted.

This privacy policy describes the data The Legation Times collects when you subscribe to updates or send a message through the contact form on a partner profile, how we store it and how you can ask for it to be deleted.

Data we collect

When you subscribe, we store your email address, the time of subscription and the IP address of the submission. The IP address is used to limit automated sign-ups, not to build a user profile.

Reading the site requires no registration and no information from you.

How it is used

Your email address is used only to send updates from The Legation Times. We do not sell, rent or transfer this list to third parties for marketing.

Retention and unsubscribing

Your address is kept until you unsubscribe. Every message carries an unsubscribe link; using it removes your address from the sending list. You can also request deletion by writing to [email protected] (or use the contact form).

Contact form on partner profiles

Some partner profiles in the directory carry a form for sending a message to that company. When you send one, The Legation Times receives your name, email address, telephone number if you give one, and your message.

We pass the message to the partner named on the page so that it can reply to you, and keep a copy for twelve months from receipt before deleting it. The partner receives the message as an independent controller and answers for its own use of it. We do not sell the list of senders and do not give partners access to it.

Cookies and measurement

The site does not sell reader data.

We use two groups of tools, and both load only after you accept on the consent banner. Until you accept, and if you decline, no file is fetched from any of the parties below and no visit is recorded.

Measurement. Google Analytics (Google LLC) shows which pages are read and where readers arrive from.

Social media performance. Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.), TikTok Pixel (TikTok Pte. Ltd.) and LinkedIn Insight Tag (LinkedIn Corporation) show whether a visit came from a post or advertisement by The Legation Times on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn, and let us show articles to people who have visited the site. These tools set cookies in your browser and send the relevant platform the page viewed, the time, the browser type and the IP address.

Data processed by these parties may be stored on servers outside Vietnam, under each party’s own privacy policy. We do not send email addresses or newsletter sign-up details to these platforms.

Your choice to accept or decline is stored in a separate cookie for one hundred and eighty days so that the banner does not ask again on every visit. To change your choice, clear this site’s cookies in your browser and the banner returns.

Articles link to pages of regulators and external research organisations. The privacy policies of those sites fall outside this document.

Changes to this policy

Any change is published on this page. Questions about personal data: contact us.
